So I recently picked up a '90 Toyota 4×4. Here's as good a place as any to stick stuff about it.
* VIN: JT4RN01P3L7027788 * 01 - J - Japan * 02 - T - Toyota * 03 - 4 - Truck * 04 - R - 22R-E * 05 - N - Truck * 06 - 0 - * 07 - 1 - * 08 - P * 09 - 3 * 10 - L - 1990 * 11 - 7 * 12 - 027788
* http://www.decodethis.com/Default.aspx?tabid=65&vin=JT4RN01P3L7027788 Apparently, it's a Delux model. I donno what that means though.
* 2.4 L (2366 cc) 22R-E SOHC FI I4, 112 hp (84 kW) at 4600 rpm and 142 ft·lbf (192 N·m) at 3400 rpm
Right now, we're getting 17.684 mpg, mostly city driving. That's pretty good I suppose. The engine seems to be running pretty smooth and has decent performance. Either way! Here's a list of tune-up stuff I should look into. Maybe I can get 18-19mpg! And an even more smooth engine. Ohh it.. does idle really high, or so I think. And it's random.. Sometimes I start it up and it'll idle 500rpm or something and sound like it's about to die then after driving a bit it starts idling around 1500.. I'd guess it should be around 800rpm but I'm not sure.
* tire alignment * new belts, they look 100 years old. * Mass Airflow Sensor * Oxygen Sensor: * Throttle Position Sensor * Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor * Clean your fuel injectors. * Purchase a tonneau cover that covers your entire truck bed. * Cold start injector was the problem.1 jet was clogged, the other semi-clogged * air filter * Clean your fuel injectors * ac don't work. Maybe I could remove it from the belt.
* Check the small coolant hoses that run too and from the bottom of the throttle body. If they are not hot after the rest of the engine reaches operating temp, they are probably plugged up and not flowing hot coolant to the air valve under the throttle body…the air valve being cold causes the surging when the rest of the vehicle is at op. temp.
My emergency/parking brake doesn't work. This would fix it! * http://www.allprooffroad.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=33 * Sometype of tailgate net or bed extender. So I don't need the tailgate up.
